About Mimi
Hi, I’m Mimi.
I’m a lettering artist and illustrator, born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and now creating from Newton, Massachusetts.
I’ve always been drawn to the magic of words—the way a simple phrase can make us smile, encourage us, remind us of something beautiful, or stay with us long after we’ve read it. Lettering became my way of giving those words a visual voice.
Today, I create expressive lettering, illustration, and colorful designs inspired by the things that bring meaning to my life: joyful color, Christian spirituality, nature, meaningful messages, and the vibrant culture and warmth of my Puerto Rican roots.
My creative work takes many forms. I collaborate with brands through art licensing, creating lettering and illustrations for stationery, paper goods, home décor, gifts, books, magazines, and other printed and digital products. I also work with local businesses, creating classic blackboard art that adds personality to their spaces and helps tell the story of who they are.
Teaching lettering and calligraphy is another part of my creative journey that I treasure. There is something special about helping someone put pen to paper, quiet the noise for a while, and rediscover the joy of making something with their own hands.
I also create original art, stationery, paper goods, and other products featuring my lettering and illustrations through Natiluz, my creative shop and a very personal part of my artistic journey. Natiluz grew from my desire to bring my art into the world in a way that is joyful, meaningful, and connected to something much bigger than myself. You can discover the story behind Natiluz and explore the collection in the Shop section.
Across everything I create, I’m guided by thoughtful craftsmanship, expressive typography, and a deep respect for the story behind each project. My creative practice continues to grow through study, experimentation, and professional training, including the Lettering Seminar with Martina Flor and commercial blackboard art training with ByMadans.
At the heart of it all, I simply love making things that carry meaning—words worth remembering, images that make people feel something, and art that brings a little more beauty into everyday life.
I’m so glad you’re here. I hope you enjoy exploring my work.
